The Romanian Ministry of Transport has updated the TollRo system, introducing new tariffs for electric trucks, which enjoy a 75% discount compared to Euro VI trucks. The changes, published in the Official Gazette, also modify how tariffs are rounded. TollRo, effective from October 1, 2026, charges based on distance, road category, vehicle weight, and pollution class. For example, an electric truck pays 12 lei for 100 km, while a Euro VI truck pays 48 lei. The new rules clarify the definition of electric vehicles and the rounding process for tariffs. Transporters can register and pay via the eToll portal, despite initial technical issues.
