Starting October 1, 2026, Romania will implement new rovinieta tariffs based on vehicle pollution levels, alongside the TollRo system for freight vehicles. The changes aim to promote environmentally friendly transportation, with electric and Euro VI vehicles benefiting from lower fees. In contrast, older vehicles will face increased costs, with some tariffs rising by up to 25%. Additionally, the abolition of bridge tolls will occur, eliminating fees for specific crossings over the Danube. The government anticipates significant revenue from these changes, estimating around 1.1 billion lei in the first three months of implementation.
