The UK has announced a new package of 31 sanctions against Russia, targeting ships linked to a 'phantom fleet', Kremlin disinformation networks, and individuals accused of human rights violations in Ukraine. These measures aim to restrict funding sources for the war and increase economic pressure on Moscow ahead of winter. The sanctions include actions against those involved in the arbitrary detention and mistreatment of Ukrainian civilians, as well as individuals linked to the indoctrination of Ukrainian children. The UK government estimates that around 6,000 Ukrainian children have been forcibly transferred to re-education camps. Additionally, the sanctions target ships acquired to help Russia evade sanctions and maintain gas export revenues.
