Noi indicii despre asteroidul care a ucis dinozaurii: ar fi venit de dincolo de Jupiter
Researchers have traced the origin of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs to the cold regions beyond Jupiter, revealing its chemical signature matches carbonaceous chondrites. The asteroid, about 10-15 kilometers wide, struck the Yucatán Peninsula, creating the Chicxulub crater and leading to a mass extinction event. This study, published in 2024, provides strong evidence of the asteroid's distant origins and confirms it was not a comet or an inner solar system asteroid. While such impacts are rare, scientists continue to monitor near-Earth objects to prevent future threats.
