Nobel 2026/Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann şi Georg Nagel, laureaţii Premiului Nobel pentru Medicină

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann, and Georg Nagel for their discoveries related to light-activated ion channels and optogenetics. Hegemann and Nagel identified channelrhodopsin, a unique protein that makes cells light-sensitive. Deisseroth introduced this protein into mouse neurons, enabling the control of nerve signals with blue light. This technique, known as optogenetics, has gained global significance. The Nobel Prize, now worth 12 million Swedish kronor, was established by Alfred Nobel to reward those who benefit humanity. The Nobel season continues with awards in physics, chemistry, literature, and peace.
