The water level of the Danube at Cernavodă is dropping faster than expected, raising concerns about the operation of the local power plant. Currently, the water level is at -227 cm, just above the critical threshold of -230 cm. Authorities are continuing dredging operations to ensure water flow to the plant, as the Danube's flow has decreased significantly. Recent actions include submerging barges to redirect water and removing obstacles near the river. A national alert was declared due to reduced electricity production, and Unit 1 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant was disconnected from the national grid due to the low water levels.
