The extremely low water level of the Danube is disrupting navigation in Hungary, with eleven cruise ships stranded and cargo operations halted. The Hungarian Ministry of Transport reported that the reduced water level affects navigation along the entire navigable stretch of the Danube, which spans 2,412 kilometers from Germany to the Black Sea. Ships must maintain a minimum distance from the riverbed, and some cargo vessels can only operate with significantly reduced loads. Authorities are monitoring the river's depth and advising navigators about shallow areas, while no general navigation restrictions are in place. The number of waiting cruise ships has decreased recently.
