President Nicușor Dan denied that his nomination of Siegfried Mureșan for prime minister was motivated by revenge. He stated that the decision followed consultations with PNL, USR, and UDMR leaders. Dan expressed hope that Mureșan would secure a parliamentary majority and form a government aligned with Romania's pro-Western commitments. He refrained from detailing past government mistakes but emphasized that all governments can err. Dan noted that Mureșan has ten days to form a government, with PNL, USR, and UDMR's support, while PSD and AUR oppose the nomination. He dismissed the likelihood of a PSD-AUR coalition, stating they lack a majority together and mentioned alternative government options if Mureșan's proposal fails.
