President Nicușor Dan condemned the actions of Călin Georgescu's supporters against journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu, emphasizing that political disagreements should not lead to threats or intimidation. He stated that no journalist should face harassment or violence for their opinions, highlighting the constitutional guarantee of press freedom. Dan stressed that defending press freedom transcends political sympathies and is essential for democracy and citizen dignity. He criticized the transformation of public debate into threats and incitement to hatred, following a demonstration where supporters formed the initials CTP with candles outside the Central Arrest in Bucharest.
