At the Arctic Summit in Finland, President Nicușor Dan emphasized the shared threats from Russia in both the Eastern Flank and the Arctic region. He highlighted the need for similar deterrence measures and preparation against risks such as drone attacks and cyber threats. Dan also discussed Romania's expertise in the Black Sea and opportunities for economic cooperation with Arctic states. During his visit, he met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to address Eastern Flank security and defense industry collaboration. Dan visited a military airbase, underscoring the strategic military ties between Romania and Finland, particularly in transitioning to F-35 aircraft.
