President Nicușor Dan has enacted a law declaring a crisis situation in the oil market until October 31, 2026, implementing measures to curb price increases. These include reducing diesel excise taxes, limiting commercial markups, and requiring government approval for diesel exports. The law aims to stabilize the economy amid rising fuel prices due to geopolitical tensions and international market instability. It also introduces a solidarity contribution on exceptional revenues of oil operators and sets conditions for adjusting diesel excise based on international price fluctuations. The law will be effective after publication in the Official Gazette.
