Nicușor Dan has promulgated amendments to a law that would have caused local and county councilors to lose their mandates due to incompatibility with state employment. The original law required state employees elected as councilors to either resign from their positions or their jobs, risking automatic mandate loss. However, just before the law was to take effect, parliamentarians quickly adopted amendments to eliminate this provision. The law was initiated by the Ministry of Development to meet a PNRR milestone regarding public servant career development. The Economic and Social Council had previously issued a negative opinion on the law, citing legal inconsistencies.
