President Nicușor Dan announced in Ukraine that he will sign a decree on Saturday appointing Siegfried Mureșan as Prime Minister. The signing will take place in Bistrița and the decree will be published in the Official Gazette on Monday. This decision follows unsuccessful consultations at Cotroceni Palace, where parties could not form a majority around a candidate. Dan expressed hope that Mureșan will secure the necessary parliamentary support, although he acknowledged the challenges involved. He avoided discussing the possibility of early elections, emphasizing the need to first complete the constitutional steps for appointing a Prime Minister and seeking parliamentary confidence. The appointed candidate has 10 days to request a vote of confidence from Parliament, which requires a majority of 233 votes. The Constitution outlines conditions for dissolving Parliament if a government is not formed within 60 days after two failed attempts.
