MEP Nicu Ștefănuță has requested an increase in social scholarships for students to at least 1,050 lei, emphasizing the need for equitable access to education. He argues that the current scholarship of 925 lei only covers 61% of estimated living costs. The request follows a proposal from the Ministry of Education to maintain the scholarship at its current level, despite significant reductions in funding and potential beneficiaries. Ștefănuță also calls for scholarships to be available year-round and for students paying tuition to receive support based on their socio-economic status. He stresses the importance of supporting vulnerable students to ensure they can continue their education.
