The country is projected to produce around 1.2 million tons this year, despite a decrease in cultivated area. Improved yields are anticipated, with an average of 16 tons per hectare, surpassing previous years. However, domestic production still falls short of consumption needs, leading to increased imports, which rose by 18.7% in 2024. The reliance on imports continues as local production struggles to meet demand.
