Today, Romania experienced an unprecedented energy production peak of 5,500 MW from renewable sources, surpassing the consumption of 4,500 MW. However, most of this energy was exported, particularly to Hungary, due to a lack of local demand. Industrial consumers prefer stable energy contracts, leading to minimal local purchases of this variable renewable energy. Additionally, Hidroelectrica recorded its lowest production ever at 221 MW, as wind and solar energy dominated the market. Despite this, Hidroelectrica aims to conserve water for winter, indicating a strategic approach to energy management.
