In the first half of 2026, ANAF collected 267.6 billion lei, marking a 22.4 billion lei increase from the same period in 2025. VAT collection also saw significant growth, rising by 26%. Minister Alexandru Nazare emphasized the need for responsible public spending to maintain fiscal stability. He noted that while collection improved, there are still sectors needing enhancement, particularly in reducing tax evasion. The upcoming S&P evaluation in September will assess Romania's financial direction and stability.
