NASA has successfully launched the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, aimed at exploring dark energy and matter, and identifying new exoplanets. The telescope, which cost around $4 billion, departed from Kennedy Space Center and is headed to Lagrange Point 2, 1.6 million kilometers from Earth. Its mission is initially set for five years, with potential for extension. This launch occurred nine months ahead of schedule, following congressional funding support. Roman will complement the James Webb and Hubble telescopes, offering similar clarity but scanning the sky much faster. It aims to create a detailed 3D map of the cosmos, analyzing dark matter and energy with unprecedented precision.
