Mount Olympus has been officially inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its exceptional natural and cultural significance. This designation was announced during a UNESCO committee meeting in Busan, South Korea, where several other sites were also nominated. The inclusion of Mount Olympus highlights Greece's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage for future generations. Additionally, the beaches of Normandy, significant for D-Day during World War II, were also nominated, showcasing their historical importance. The meeting will conclude with the review of around 30 nominations.
