Despite a 12% rise in turnover to 58.44 billion lei, net profit dropped from 4.17 billion to 3.54 billion lei. The industry faces challenges such as rising costs and operational efficiency, impacting profitability. Employment grew, with nearly 195,000 workers, but profit margins fell to historic lows. The sector contributed 12.2 billion lei to the public budget, highlighting its economic significance. Local products are increasingly favored, and digital payments are reshaping consumer behavior in hospitality.
