Mugur Isărescu spune că BNR lasă cursul leu-euro să fie mai liber

Mugur Isărescu discussed the Romanian National Bank's approach to currency fluctuations and political uncertainty during the August 2026 inflation report presentation. He noted that the bank has intervened less in the currency market this year compared to 2025, allowing for greater flexibility in the exchange rate. Isărescu emphasized that a floating exchange rate does not necessarily mean constant volatility, but rather stability around a balance of supply and demand. He compared the stability of the Romanian leu to other regional currencies, noting it remains more stable than the Hungarian forint, Czech koruna, or Polish zloty, although it is not as stable as in previous years.
