Mugur Isărescu anunță că BNR lasă cursul leu-euro să fie mai flexibil

The National Bank of Romania is allowing a more flexible exchange rate for the leu against the euro, as stated by Governor Mugur Isărescu. He noted that interventions in the currency market have been significantly lower this year compared to 2025, and while political instability still exerts some pressure, it is less severe than in previous years. Isărescu emphasized that the leu's current fluctuations are acceptable and reflect the balance between supply and demand. He also mentioned that a floating exchange rate does not necessarily mean constant volatility, and the currency should stabilize around an equilibrium point. The recent exchange rate for the euro was 5.2405 lei, with limited fluctuations observed recently.
