The introduction of a dynamic excise tax on diesel fuel may lead to a price reduction of up to 50 bani per liter. This law allows the government to intervene when fuel prices rise excessively. The dynamic excise can be reduced by 5% to 25% based on current prices and international quotations. Additionally, a measure to limit commercial markups could further decrease prices by up to 30 bani per liter. These changes are expected to bring diesel prices closer to 10.20 lei per liter and gasoline to around 9.20 lei. The measures will take effect at the end of the week, although prices have recently increased again at some stations.
