The price of diesel fuel in Romania has significantly increased, negating the benefits of the excise tax reduction. As of September 13, diesel prices ranged from 10.43 to 10.52 lei per liter, up from an average of 8.27 lei in late February, marking a rise of about 26.5%. This surge translates to an additional cost of approximately 108 to 113 lei for a full tank of 50 liters. Despite a temporary drop in prices at the beginning of September, all major networks reported prices exceeding 10.4 lei per liter shortly after. The recent rise in Brent crude oil prices, now over 100 dollars per barrel, also impacts fuel costs, although the relationship is not direct due to various factors affecting retail prices.
