Premium diesel prices have surpassed 11 lei per liter, coinciding with a parliamentary vote on a dynamic fuel tax. Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association, argues that the proposed tax reduction is insufficient to genuinely assist drivers, labeling it a mere illusion. He dismisses concerns about a fuel shortage in Romania, asserting that such a scenario would only arise from poor government actions. Chisăliță estimates that the tax reduction would lower standard diesel prices from 10.23 lei to approximately 9.92 lei, a minimal change. The dynamic tax mechanism, recently approved by the Senate, allows for temporary reductions based on market conditions, with an initial cut of 10%. The project also includes measures to cap commercial margins and restrict fuel exports.
