The Romanian Ministry of Finance has extended the 25% reduction in diesel excise tax until September 30, 2026, due to rising fuel prices exceeding 10.5 lei per liter. This decision follows a bi-weekly evaluation under Law 162/2026, aimed at mitigating the economic impact of fuel costs. The reduction translates to a decrease of 701.07 lei per 1,000 liters, helping to control inflation in transport and logistics. Despite the tax cut, diesel prices continue to rise, influenced by international market trends, with diesel reaching record levels of 1522 dollars per barrel. The ministry will keep monitoring fuel price developments.
