Motorcycles and mopeds will be allowed to use bus lanes and can move between stopped cars at traffic lights, following recent amendments to the Road Code approved by the Chamber of Deputies. The project received significant support, passing with 238 votes in favor. The Senate had previously tacitly adopted it in June 2025. Access to bus lanes will be regulated by road administrators, and motorcycles and mopeds can bypass stopped vehicles at red lights, provided there is enough lateral space and no obstruction to other traffic. A new safety space for motorcycles and mopeds will be marked at traffic lights and railway crossings. Local authorities are tasked with creating parking spaces for motorcycles and mopeds in public areas. The law will take effect after presidential promulgation and publication in the Official Gazette.
