Harvard University will pay $53 million to relatives of deceased donors due to a scandal involving a former morgue director who sold body parts illegally. The university acknowledged the misconduct of Cedric Lodge, who was accused of selling remains intended for research. The settlement aims to resolve lawsuits from 47 families whose loved ones' remains were mishandled. Lodge was sentenced to eight years in prison for his actions, which included shipping body parts to buyers. Harvard plans to establish compensation funds and improve its anatomical donation program in response to the incident.
