Moldova își schimbă harta administrativă: vor fi 3 regiuni și 273 de primării
The administrative reform in Moldova aims to create three larger regions and reduce the number of municipalities to 273, significantly increasing the average population of each municipality. The government presented this new territorial configuration, which includes maintaining Chișinău and Bălți as municipalities, while Taraclia will become a second-level municipality. The reform seeks to consolidate local authorities, enhancing their resources and capacity for development projects. The average population of a municipality, excluding major cities, is expected to rise from 1,916 to 6,758 residents. The government plans to introduce a legislative package for this transition, aiming for implementation by the 2027 local elections.
