Moldova: Consumul de curent a crescut în loc să scadă

Electricity consumption in Moldova increased by about 1,000 MWh on August 4, despite calls for energy savings. Authorities anticipate a new deficit due to high demand during the heatwave and reduced production. The government had to purchase around 130 MWh at significantly higher prices. Minister Dorin Junghietu noted that while there was some reduction during peak hours, overall demand rose. The situation is exacerbated by low water levels in the Danube affecting energy production. Citizens are urged to conserve energy, especially in the evening hours to mitigate costs.
