Misterul orașului unde s-a născut Mihai Viteazul. De ce a dispărut de pe hartă și din istorie Târgul de Floci? • Newsweek România
The city of Floci, birthplace of Mihai Viteazul, was once a significant commercial center in Muntenia but mysteriously disappeared from history. Established at the confluence of the Ialomița River and the Danube, it thrived until the late 18th century. Despite its importance, the city faced destruction from wars and natural disasters, particularly the 1775 floods that altered the river's course, leading to its decline. Archaeological excavations have revealed remnants of its past, including churches and workshops, but the area remains largely abandoned. Today, a museum showcases its history, yet the city itself is a forgotten relic of medieval times.
