On October 17, two drones were shot down by Romanian F-16s after entering national airspace over the Black Sea. Defense Minister Radu Miruță indicated these drones, believed to be new Russian models, were capable of speeds up to 450 km/h, significantly faster than previous drones. The interception occurred just two minutes after the drones crossed into Romanian airspace, showcasing effective monitoring and response strategies. Miruță emphasized the importance of calculated trajectory assessments to ensure public safety during such operations. Prior to this incident, four other drones had been intercepted in Romania since July.
