Mintia a livrat primul megawatt-oră în rețeaua națională, după cinci ani. Investiție de 1,2 miliarde de euro
The new gas power plant in Mintia has delivered its first megawatt-hour of electricity to the national grid, five years after the closure of the coal-fired plant. This private investment of approximately 1.2 billion euros will have an installed capacity of 1,700 MW, exceeding the combined capacity of the two nuclear reactors at Cernavodă. The project aims to boost domestic electricity production and reduce import dependency, particularly in western Romania. The former coal plant was shut down in 2021 due to environmental issues and insolvency. The new plant's first turbine is currently in testing, with full capacity expected by the end of 2027.
