Romanian Defense Minister Radu Miruță announced three significant firsts following the downing of two Russian drones by F-16s over the Black Sea. This incident marked the first time two drones were intercepted within four minutes of entering Romanian airspace. Additionally, it was the first encounter for Romanian pilots with the Geran 4 drones, which fly at speeds of 450 km/h. Miruță highlighted that the F-16s were already positioned in anticipation of the airspace violation, demonstrating effective preemptive analysis. The drones were neutralized shortly after their entry, with the first being downed at 18:01 and the second at 18:05, showcasing the rapid response capabilities of the Romanian Air Force.
