Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs dismissed Social Protection Minister Reinis Uzulnieks after he was caught driving with a blood alcohol level significantly above the legal limit. Kulbergs condemned the minister's actions as irresponsible and dangerous. President Edgars Rinkevics also criticized the incident. Uzulnieks was reportedly driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.309% to 0.35%, far exceeding the legal limit of 0.05%. Following the incident, Uzulnieks was removed from his ministerial position and expelled from his party, the Union of Greens and Farmers, which plans to provide further details soon.
