The Romanian Minister of Education, Sorin Costreie, has proposed increasing the number of school security guards by 1,000 following violent incidents involving students. He described recent attacks in Bistrița and Pitești as horrifying and indicative of a broader culture of violence that needs to be addressed. Costreie emphasized the importance of psychological counseling in schools and suggested harsher penalties for violence against teachers, similar to those for medical staff. He also mentioned considering measures like backpack checks and metal detectors to enhance safety in schools.
