The interim Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, emphasized the need for cost-effective solutions to intercept drones entering Romanian airspace. He noted that the recent downing of two drones demonstrates the effectiveness of recent military measures. Miruță highlighted the importance of accelerating military equipment procurement, as traditional fighter jets are not typically used against drones. He assured that the Romanian Army is doing everything possible to mitigate risks to the population, especially given the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The latest drone was shot down near Sfântu Gheorghe by the same F-16 pilot who neutralized a previous drone.
