Ministerul Energiei a emis o alertă către CE: Reactorul 2 de la Cernavodă riscă să fie oprit
The Ministry of Energy issued an early warning to the European Commission regarding low water levels in the Danube, threatening the safe operation of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. Following the shutdown of Unit 1, there is a risk of also shutting down Reactor 2. The alert will remain until water levels allow safe operation, projected no earlier than August 15, 2026. Currently, there is no negative impact on the domestic electricity market, but the ministry warns of increased energy consumption during peak hours. The extremely low Danube flow is nearing critical levels for cooling pumps, with forecasts indicating a minimum flow of 1,400 m3/s for August 2026.
