In 2025, Romanians spent over 42 billion euros in retail, marking a 5.6% increase from 2024 and a 77% rise since 2019. The supermarket and hypermarket sector led with 25.7 billion euros in sales, while DIY and Electro-IT sectors also showed growth. Despite economic challenges, 11 out of 13 categories reported positive revenue growth, indicating a diversification in consumer spending. Retailers are expanding their presence in major commercial projects, supported by new investments in shopping centers. The retail market in Romania reached approximately 4.92 million square meters, with stable rental prices.
