Social Democrat Mihai Ghigiu announced the submission of eight projects aimed at combating fake news in Romania. He highlighted the existence of a government department focused on this issue. Interim Minister Radu Miruță emphasized the need for legislative action against harmful online content, urging the Speaker of the Chamber to prioritize the discussion of the proposed law. The Senate has already tacitly adopted the project, which addresses illegal content and incitement to hatred. Ghigiu expressed concerns about the clarity and effectiveness of the proposed measures, advocating for a collaborative approach to develop a comprehensive legislative framework. He stressed the importance of education in addressing the challenges posed by misinformation.
