Mihai Fifor: România trebuie să își regândească strategia de securitate maritimă

PSD Deputy Mihai Fifor emphasizes the need for Romania to rethink its maritime security strategy due to the ongoing war in Ukraine and threats to energy infrastructure in the Black Sea. He argues that the upcoming Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) meeting should go beyond recent incident evaluations and focus on protecting Romania's strategic interests. Fifor highlights the risks posed by aerial and maritime drones, drifting mines, and potential sabotage of underwater infrastructure. He stresses the importance of addressing the legal regime and security of Romania's exclusive economic zone, noting that while Romania has recognized sovereign rights, it lacks full sovereignty in this area. The CSAT meeting is seen as a crucial opportunity to shift from reactive incident management to a proactive maritime security strategy for Romania.
