Microbi modificați genetic de oamenii de știință pentru a ajuta la colonizarea planetei Marte

A California startup, Pioneer Labs, has developed a genetically modified microbe that could aid in terraforming Mars. This microbe, named sPL.001, can thrive in Martian-like conditions and remove toxins from the soil, potentially enabling the growth of life. The research indicates that this microbe could help create a sustainable environment for human colonization by producing bioplastics and utilizing Martian resources. However, the microbe requires specific conditions to survive and cannot exist outside a controlled environment, minimizing the risk of contamination on Mars. Future tests with real Martian soil are necessary to validate these findings.
