Mica secundă „intercalară” va fi eliminată în 2027
The leap second will be eliminated starting in 2027 to avoid technical complications in computer systems. Since its introduction in 1972, 27 leap seconds have been added to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The decision was made by the General Conference on Weights and Measures to ensure smoother operation of critical infrastructures. The current system has become increasingly complex, and the potential for a negative leap second poses additional risks. After May 20, 2027, UTC will no longer include these irregular adjustments, leading to a gradual divergence from solar time.
