The Romanian government approved Metrorex's budget for 2026, projecting total revenues of 1.797 billion lei, a decrease of over 23% from 2025. Despite falling revenues, personnel expenses are expected to rise, with total expenditures estimated at 2.093 billion lei, down 21.08% from the previous year. The budget includes a state subsidy of 761.49 million lei, covering 59.65% of the compensation needed. Revenue from services is projected to increase by 7.84%, driven by an expected rise in passenger numbers. Investment funding is set to increase significantly, supporting various metro projects, including new lines and equipment acquisitions.
