The relationship has evolved into direct military cooperation, with North Korea sending thousands of troops to support Russian forces. Recent estimates suggest around 14,000 to 15,000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed in Russia since 2024. In exchange for support, Russia has provided North Korea with economic assistance and military technology.
