Merz respinge categoric o idee a americanilor privind activele rusești sechestrate în Europa: „Noi decidem”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz firmly rejected U.S. proposals to oversee frozen Russian assets in Europe, asserting that these assets should remain under European control. Merz emphasized that the decision regarding the assets, valued at over 200 billion euros, is solely Europe's responsibility. This statement followed reports that the U.S. suggested transferring some assets to a Washington-supervised financial vehicle to facilitate peace negotiations. European delegates reportedly dismissed this plan. The Kremlin stated it lacks information on the proposal, while EU countries have blocked Russian central bank assets since the Ukraine invasion, with some advocating for their distribution to support Ukraine.
