Doctors in Iași performed organ transplants from Viorel Oarză, a former boxer found shot in the head. His family consented to organ donation after he was declared brain dead. The liver and kidneys were successfully transplanted to two patients in need, both parents of two children. Oarză had a troubled past, including a prison sentence in Italy for attempted murder and involvement in organized crime. He was found dead in a forest near Holboca.
