A study presented at the EADV Congress in 2026 suggests a potential link between GLP-1 medications and nail and hair issues. The research involved 1,904 participants from four countries, revealing higher rates of nail detachment and discoloration among GLP-1 users compared to a control group. While 66% of GLP-1 users reported nail problems, the authors caution that the findings do not establish a direct cause-and-effect relationship. Additionally, hair loss and scalp symptoms were more frequently reported among users. Future research will focus on monitoring patients from the start of treatment to clarify these associations.
