On October 6, the euro reached a historic high against the Romanian leu, with a rate of 5.3527 lei per euro. This increase follows a previous record of 5.3447 lei on October 2. The leu's depreciation is attributed to political uncertainties and economic factors, including Romania's fiscal situation and investor expectations. Other currencies also fluctuated, with the US dollar rising to 4.7616 lei and the British pound increasing to 6.3036 lei. CFA Romania predicts that by the end of 2027, the euro could range between 5.40 and 5.50 lei, indicating further depreciation of the leu. The forecast considers inflation differences, budget deficits, and BNR's interventions.
