The 25% reduction in diesel excise tax will continue until mid-October 2026 to mitigate rising costs for the population and economy. The Ministry of Finance announced this decision following a bi-monthly evaluation as per Law no. 162/2026. The measure aims to address ongoing pressures in the fuel market, adjusting the excise tax based on international prices and pump costs. The effective excise tax for standard diesel will remain at 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters during this period. Authorities will keep monitoring market indicators to adapt measures accordingly.
